  13. "It's finally here!" it proclaims. 
  14. The full page ads for an application under the brandname LinkIt! carried
  15. by Amazing Amiga in their last few issues promises all types of file transfer
  16. in Serial and Parallel between an Amiga and PC that also will "Perform file
  17. conversion as you transfer!" and it further states that it "Includes 6 foot
  18. parallel cable.". 
  19. Too good to be true?
  20. Well I bought one direct from it's originators:"LEGENDARY design TECHNOLOGIES"  
  21. for US $ 59.95 back at the beginning of March.
  22. What I got in the mail from them was what they call a "Special Version" that
  23. cannot connect to Parallel ports and with their "FREE" Serial cable was only 
  24. able to slowly transfer some small files from the Amiga to the PC but not 
  25. from the PC to the Amiga.
  26. On their Registration Card they ask you to: "Send in this card to receive
  27. your FREE PARALLEL CABLE" and then in small print "When available". 
  28. My e-mail inquiries were answered by a Syd Bolton who said they will mail
  29. me their latest software update which he said will "solve some" of my 
  30. "problems". 
  31. Ten days later I have not received anything.
  32. And I discovered that "file conversion as you transfer" really only means 
  33. three or four very basic formats that don't even include GIF's or JPEG's.
  34.  
  35. I am only posting this in order to warn other potential buyers and to 
  36. express my concern about the kind of advertisers the last U.S. based
  37. Amiga publication attracts.
